Rei sighed as she sat in a room wearing a red and green dress, attmepting to be festive for the holiday. The room was full of chatty Shinigami and Christmas music from the human world. There were multiple Shinigami from every single squad, all smiling and drinking eggnog, or straight sake. It wasn't crammed, but it was enough to make Rei irritable how close everyone was and bumping into each other. She and Renji had arrived together and had somehow been split up throughout the night, and that over everything annoyed her. Everyone around her was giggly and having a good time, while she sat on a couch like there was a dark cloud over her head. She sighed and her eyes continued searching the crowd for any sight of Renji so they could leave. Without any luck she dropped her head back, and shook her head. When she sat up and looked again a set of breasts crushed against the back of Rei's head, her face lighting up a bright red.
"Guueeeeess whhhhooo!" a high and happy voice said behind Rei. It was Kiku, though she didn't seem to, luckily, have drank any alcohol.
"Well... judging from the voice, I'd have to say it's Kiku!" Rei said sarcastically. Kiku pulled away from Rei and sat next to her, smiling before she was Rei's annoyed expression, but took it as sadness. She was dressed up in a nice red dress, that wasn't too revealing but accentuated her body.
"Why're you so sad Rei-Rei?" Kiku chirped, tilting her head like one of those adorable dogs.
"I'm not sad!" Rei snapped, Kiku widening her eyes, and sinking back.
"W-well you don't have to yell." Kiku replied quietly before perking up again. "Come on, it's Christmas! Don't be a scrooge! Where's your..." Kiku reached behind her and threw Christmas colored confetti on Rei. "Spirit!" Kiku giggled and clapped as the confetti coated Rei. Rei sighed again and dusted it off of her, shaking her head.
"I have spirit, just not at the moment." Rei mumbled glancing around in the crowd distractedly. Kiku followed Rei's eyes and pursed her lips before she gasped.
"Oh no... don't tell me Renji stood you up!" Kiku said dramatically, but seriously, her brown eyes worried and concerned. Rei smiled at this and laughed, shaking her head.
"No... no Kiku he didn't stand me up." she smiled again. "We came here together, but somehow and magically got separated." Kiku nodded and was about to say something when her eyes lit up, seeing Kensei walking towards her. He wore a full out Santa costume, minus the beard and large sack on his back. "He came to meet you?" Rei asked with a smirk. Kiku nodded and beamed as she grinned, seeing he was holding a present. The grey haired male came over and looked at Rei, giving her a nod, which she gave back, before he turned to Kiku, handing her the present. Kiku attacked it and squeed happily and loudly, Rei wincing from the noise. Under all the wrapping was a multitude of presents. On top were cupcakes, cookies, small cakes, any sweet you could name. Under that was a small slender man plushy, which Rei curled her lip at, and a lifetime supply of cupcakes from Kiku's favorite bakery in the human world.
"Oh Kensei!" she said happily, placing everything back in the boxy carefully before she leapt up and planted multiple kisses all over his face. "You're the best!!!" she said, kissing him fully on the lips. Kensei seemed to have an idiotic expression on his face before he shook it away.
"Keep it in check big boy." Rei said, watching him. Kensei looked over at Rei before back at Kiku.
"You want to go get some food Kiku?" Kensei asked her, but Kiku sat back down next to Rei.
"I'd love to Kensei, but Rei-Rei is all alone! I want to keep her company until we find Renji!" she sat with a nod of her head and a grin.
"Kiku... it's fine. I'll be good! Go have a fun time. Don't worry." Rei smiled and gently nudged Kiku. She looked unsure, but walked off with Kensei, smiling as he took her hand. Rei leaned back in her seat and crossed her legs only to jump when she heard a chaos over by the food bar.
"Katrina!! No, no! Don't eat that, it's not cake!" just as the sentence finished, a rum, cake sailed over Rei's head, the girl widening her eyes. But she knew who it was who was shouting, it was Izuru, once again making sure Katrina didn't get intoxicated and be... the extremely entertaining way she was when she got drunk. The two walked over and picked up the rum cake to throw it away, but paused when they saw Rei, smiling and waving, both of them dressed up in ugly Christmas sweaters. Katrina walked over to Rei and smiled.
"Merry Christmas Rei." she said, Rei nodding and smiling back.
"Merry Christmas to you too." she tried to say as nicely as possible. It hadn't really been merry for her, but why ruin it for others? That'd... feel awful. Katrina looked Rei over, seeing the confetti still in her hair and all over her clothes.
"You look very festive." Katrina said with a small laugh, Rei nodding and picking off some more confetti.
"Ah yes... that'd be Kiku." she said just as the said blonde's laughter filled the air and confetti flew about. "Beware of her." Rei joked, Izuru nodding and smiling.
"Thanks for the heads up!" he threw his arm around Katrina as he did so. Rei smiled at their affection and cleared her throat. "So!" Izuru said. "I saw you and Renji arrive here earlier, but where is he?" Izuru asked as Rei gave a shrug.
"Well we'll keep you company," Katrina said, going over and sitting next to Rei who chuckled.
"At least I know my buddies love me." she joked and dropped her head onto Katrina's shoulder, sighing as she tried to hide her disappointment of Renji not being here. "Sooo how are you guys enjoying the holiday?" she asked as Izuru sat next to Katrina.
"Well it's full of keeping Kat away from Leiko and Rangiku's traps to give her eggnog, or rum balls, or anything mixed in with alcohol." at the mention of their names, the Captain and lieutenant showed up immediately before the three, smiling giddily. They both wore very short red dresses that were lined with the fake white fur. In the waist section was a black belt, making the dresses look like a sexy Santa type of deal. On their heads were Christmas hats and on their hands were long black gloves. Unfortunately, their cheeks were already a shade of pink, showing they'd had quite a bit to drink.
"Katriiiinnna!" Leiko and Rangiku sang in unison. They had both their hands behind their backs and seemed to be hiding something. Rei rose and eyebrow and looked at Izuru, obviously trying to tell him to watch out, which he nodded to. Leiko swung her hips from side to side and grinned before she and Rangiku pulled out loads of mistletoe, holding it above Katrina and Izuru's heads, both of their faces lighting up bright red. The blonde male just stared up at the mistletoe, not sure on what to do.
"Kiss her Izuurrrruuu!" Rangiku sang. "But do it when the camera is out!" she said, both her and Leiko turning behind around to grab the object. When they did, Izuru gently kissed Katrina on the lips and cleared his throat.
"You guys should leave before they try something else." Rei said, nudging them. Izuru grabbed Katrina's hand and smiled gently at Rei.
"We'll circle back... eventually!" he said with a wave. When Rangiku turned around she frowned, as did Leiko.
"Aww! They left! Rei-Rei!" Leiko gently nudged her friend. "Where'd they goooo?" she whined. Rei shrugged.
"I think... outside?" Rei lied, Rangiku grinning brightly as she turned to Leiko.
"That means they'd be alone out there and we could get better pictures!" she said with happiness. Leiko gasped and took off to the door, Rangiku following behind her. As they ran out, they passed by a black haired Shinigami, her sneering at the two. She had a cigarette in her mouth and searched the crowd until she finally found Rei, smiling and walking over. She wore a simple red shirt and black skinny jeans. She dropped into the seat beside Rei and wrapped her arm around her with a large cocky grin.
"Hey sissy-poo!" the girl teased, Rei rolling her eyes and shaking her head.
"Nami... don't call me that's it's so damn embarrassing." Rei grumbled, shoving her sister's arm away. "Plus it's just weird. You didn't call me that when you were alive."
"'Cause you were nine and I knew you'd have a shit fit... just like you are now." she said with much thought. "Anyways, what're you doing here alone? Where's your fine ass man?" she teased again, knowing it bugged Rei whenever she talked like that.
"Naaami!" Rei growled. "Don't say stuff like that, it's weird and abnormal. And besides, Renji isn't here. He disappeared throughout the night." Nami frowned and squeezed Rei gently.
"Well... maybe he's got a surprise for you! Or, or! Maybe he's getting the bedroom ready for--" she was cut off by Rei shoving her away, a disgusted look on her face.
"EW! EW, EW, EW, EW!!! Nami stop. I'm damn serious. If you don't I'll... beat you up or something." Rei mumbled, her face a bright red.
